PAUL RIVETT’S FIVE-STAR TRIUMPH AT PEMBREY

The championship title race is primed for an electrifying showdown as the British Truck Racing Championship recently staged its blockbuster penultimate event at Pembrey Circuit (7/8 October).

Arriving at the Home of Welsh Motorsport having won eight of the last nine races, momentum was on the side of Paul Rivett, and he duly delivered with a five-star performance.

The former Renault UK Clio Cup champion’s exceptional performance now places him a mere one point behind the reigning championship leader, Adam Bint, setting the stage for a thrilling finale at Brands Hatch next month.

QUALIFYING AND THRUXTON RACE

Amid a vibrant crowd at the Welsh venue, the penultimate qualifying session unfolded, with Rivett narrowly missing pole position by a mere 28 thousandths of a second, ultimately securing P2 for the first Pembrey race. His fastest qualifying lap earned him pole position for the second Pembrey race.

Following qualifying, the first race of the day featured the rescheduled Thruxton race, after it was originally postponed. Given the reverse grid, Rivett embarked from fifth place. With remarkable tenacity, the MAN driver battled through the field to claim his first victory of the day in a notably chaotic race.

RACE 1                       

The first of the Pembrey races saw Rivett start in second place, as the flag signalled the start of the race, Rivett immediately managed to crucially jump ahead of Bint. Eventually taking the flag with a commanding 7-second lead to second place man, John Powell.

RACE 2 AND 3

Sunday’s inaugural race saw Rivett seize the limelight, securing a lights-to-flag victory from pole position.

Race 3 initiated the reverse grid races, positioning Rivett in fifth. An early red flag temporarily disrupted his progress. Upon the restart, Rivett showcased exceptional skill, finishing a commendable third.

RACE 4 AND 5

In the penultimate race, Rivett began from sixth but displayed an astounding start, promptly surging to second place at the first corner. Despite having to contend with a red flag stoppage, the #22 NAPA truck executed a flawless start, cruising to victory.

The final race witnessed Rivett starting in third place, where he once more exhibited remarkable prowess, carving through the competition to claim yet another wheel-perfect victory.

With an impressive tally of five wins, a third-place finish, and four fastest laps, Rivett now trails the championship leader, Bint, by just one point. The British Truck Racing Championship heads to Brands Hatch on the 4th and 5th of November, with everything still up for grabs in this thrilling title race.
