It was the NAPA Racing UK driver’s third time competing in the week-long tournament taking place at Tulsa Expo Raceway in Oklahoma.
The Chili Bowl Nationals is a week-long tournament annually held in January in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is referred to as one of the world’s premier indoor dirt racing events and features over 300 dirt midget cars competing on a quarter-mile track.
The “Midget Sprint” cars used in the event are specially built dirt racing machines, red lining at 10,000rpm and producing 400bhp, weighing in at just 410kg.
All drivers are entered into a draw to determine their race day and starting grid positions. Jack was selected to race on Monday and drew heat 4 in 4th position.
Using the experience gained from the previous 2 years, Jack secured his personal best finish, a brilliant 6th place, qualifying him for Feature Race K on the Saturday.
The Feature Races work up the alphabet with the top 6 finishers of each race moving up, until ultimately the winner of Feature A is crowned the champion.
Jack put together a great race in Feature C, starting 6th and finishing 5th. Unfortunately, as only the top 4 progress through to the next race, Jack narrowly missed out, but it was a career-high finish at this event for the UK-based racer.
“Once again, we’ve had a brilliant time at the Chili Bowl.
If I’d had another lap or so in the last race, we would have done better, but we still secured some good results.”
Now back at home, focus is on the upcoming BriSCA F1 season.
