NAPA RACING UK SIGNS OFF WITH VICTORY
READ MOREThrough the years, NAPA has enjoyed a strong relationship with motorsport thanks to a number of high-profile partnerships, most notably in NASCAR where the likes of Michael Waltrip, Martin Truex Jr and Chase Elliott have all taken to the track at the wheel of the 'NAPA car'.
The iconic NAPA colours have also been seen in drag racing, sprint cars and in IndyCar, where Alexander Rossi took his NAPA-backed car to victory in the 2016 running of the Indianapolis 500.
Keen to raise its profile within the UK market, NAPA elected to take its first steps into motorsport on this side of the pond, joining forces with the Motorbase Performance team to enter the high-profile British Touring Car Championship - with NAPA Racing UK being born as a result.
Debuting as a two-car team with three-time title winner Ash Sutton and multiple Porsche champion Dan Cammish as the wheel of two Ford Focus STs, NAPA Racing UK made an immediate impression on the most prestigious series in the UK by securing the Teams’ Championship at the first attempt.
A total of four wins and 16 podium finishes was a good return but it was nothing compared to what followed in 2023, as NAPA Racing UK doubled in size to four cars with the addition of Dan Rowbottom and Sam Osborne to the line-up.
The team would win 16 of the 30 races, take pole at nine of the ten meetings and the four drivers would combine to score an astonishing 32 podium finishes. A dozen of those wins went to Sutton as he stormed to his fourth title, whilst the Teams’ Championship was successfully defended and NAPA Racing UK clinched the Manufacturers’/Constructors’ title - ending BMW’s stranglehold on the award after seven straight wins.
As well as huge success in the BTCC, NAPA Racing UK would expand into the MINI CHALLENGE and secure the Graduate Cup title with Jamie Osborne, whilst Paul Rivett took Division 2 honours in the British Truck Racing Championship in the most dramatic of fashions - edging his closest rival on race wins.
The NAPA Racing UK name would also appear in both the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and BriSCA F1 stock cars as the brand made its mark on the UK motorsport scene, and in 2024, an expansive driver line-up will again chase glory on multiple fronts - headlined by Sutton’s quest for a record-breaking fifth BTCC crown.
