Toyota Hilux Clutch Fitment Guide
04 Jul 2025
When undertaking a clutch replacement, it’s important to ensure correct fitment is followed for the exact application. Keep the following fitment guide in mind when fitting NAPA Clutch Kits NCL1071 or NCL1120 in a Toyota Hilux D4D (07-15) or Toyota Hilux Vigo D4D (05-15) clutch change.
COMMON FAULT IN TOYOTA HILUX/HILUX VIGO APPLICATIONS
In some applications, there is insufficient or no lubrication on the clutch release fork and pivot ball, causing a noise to come from the bellhousing. This noise has often been associated with the thrust bearing or clutch plate.
SOLUTION

To rectify this noise, please do as follows:
- Remove the clutch release fork and ensure that it is thoroughly cleaned.
- Clean and check the pivot ball for wear. If there is any evidence of wear, the pivot fork should be replaced.
- Lubricate the bearing and lubricate the areas of the pivot fork identified above using appropriate high temperature grease sparingly. NAPA’s NCGR1075 is a suitable product for this, as is the grease that comes with the clutch. Copper grease is not suitable.
- Lubricate the bearing and check that it slides satisfactorily on the shaft.
- Refit the clutch release fork, making sure the clip has been located, and the fork sits on the pivot ball.
- Fit the new clutch bearing to the release fork, making sure the bearing is secured correctly, and the fork is in the correct position.
