Paul Rivett to miss Round 2 of the BTRC

13 May 2024

After a perfect 5/5 opening round at Brands Hatch for NAPA Racings #22 Paul Rivett, it is with regret that we announce that Paul is not able to race at the Convoy Cymru, Pembrey for Round 2 of the British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC). Unfortunately, the BTRC Division 2 championship leader is recovering from a broken ankle and will not be fit to take to the wheel of the NAPA truck.

“Absolutely gutted to be missing the next round of the BTRC due to a broken ankle. If there was any way to be out there, I would be! However, it’s going to be great to see Sam in the truck that he has put so much time and effort into. Sam has been instrumental in the behind-the-scenes work and I know has been itching for a go in the driver’s seat. I’ll be there to help out where I can. Good luck Sam!”

Paul Rivett, BTRC Division 2 Champion.

However, we have a super-sub to ensure the NAPA Racing truck will be on the Pembrey grid, none other than NAPA Racing’s British Touring Car Championship ace; Sam Osborne. Sam has raced in Radicals, Clio Cup and been on the BTCC grid since 2019 and the NAPA Racing UK driver is no stranger to the HGV world.

Sam has grown up in the cab, as a mechanic, engineer, and driver for the family business, Green Group PLC. Sam is also a talented engineer, who has been responsible for much of the fabrication and development work on the #22 NAPA Truck away from the track, so it seems only fitting for him to step up as a replacement for Paul. Paul will be on hand to support Sam all weekend, as he attempts to tame the 5-tonne, 1000bhp MAN in this super-heavyweight division of British Motorsport. One thing is for sure it is going to be some spectacle!

If you are at Brands Hatch this weekend for Round 2 of the British Touring Car Championship, be sure to stop past the NAPA Racing UK pits and ask Sam about it!
